More Artist Models : Collage

I’ve been concentrating on more figurative collage artists as that is where my interest lies. Sarah suggested David Noonan for his collages using his own original photographic works. This is something that appeals due to my background in photography. I love when mediums are blended and layered.

David Delruelle

David Delruelle (1988) lives and works in Brussels. His work, imbued with a minimalist methodology, critically explores the way we interact with images, both in their perception and what they say about us. David's collages initiate a dialogue between the figurative and the conceptual, developing an engaging discourse, often tinged with humor, irony or melancholy.

David Noonan

Within Noonan’s new body of work, he revisits symbols and figures (such as the owl and actor), which have been developed through more than a decade of artistic practice. In particular, we find recollections of the artist’s previous engagement with performance, as it references the psychological processes of self-projection and identity construction.

Frank Moth

Frank Moth creates nostalgic postcards from a distant but at the same time familiar future. He makes digital collages and compositions with specific, distinctive color palettes, in a critically acclaimed style that is immediately recognizable.

Klawe Rzeczy is a Lodz-based design studio specializing in editorial illustrations and digital collages founded by Ewelina Karpowiak in 2016.

Finding the use of handwritten text and scribbles very interesting in these compositions.

Sally Smart

Sally Smart’s work in The Choreography of Cutting differs from other manifestations of collage in twenty and twenty-first century art precisely because of movement. Her installations show a choreographic interest in dynamic space and group composition that emerges from her study of Rudolf Laban’s geometries and Martha Graham’s methods of dramatic assemblage, as well as her response to the disturbing qualities of a Pina Bausch scene. It is however through rhythm and the intensification of the corporeal in trace-forms, that Smart’s cutting becomes a gestural performance derived from action. The convergence between movement, gesture and modernity has a significant historical lineage in both art and social life that is pertinent to a better understanding of Smart’s collages.
