Painting on copper research

I have a large copper panel that my husband took from one of his jobs when he ran his demolition business in Echuca. I’ve wanted to paint on it for a long time and this is the perfect time. At present I’m thinking this will act as a sort of ‘regular portrait’ in amongst a more collage-drawing-installation approach.

This Jackson’s blog post was very informative on how to paint on copper:

Main points I took away from this is to use a fine tooth sandpaper to give the paint texture to adhere to (without using primer) and be sure to seal it to retain the copper glow (rather than it oxidising).
